There is an emphasis on ‘equal rights’ and de-emphasis on ‘equal responsibilities’2.
Do women really seek equality? To be honest, I believe this is a question every single woman should ask herself. I don't think most of them do, certainly not in regards of real equality.
By focusing on "equal rights" while downplaying "equal responsibilities," feminists and feminist groups are able to win over more people. They emphasize the difficulties women face but disregard the difficulties men face. In one breath, they portray women as superheroes who accomplish all and have it all without needing help from organizations, men, or anyone else; in the next, they imply that women have always been weak, that the "patriarchy" is so against them, and thus they feel entitled to all sorts of initiatives and special incentives just to be on an equal playing field with men.
The world isn't quite like they portray it to be.
Women in the West have more options and choices than ever before when it comes to education, training, and employment, as well as social and emotional support. It's not hard for women to see that they enjoy more privileges and resources than men do when they examine the lives of men more closely.
Most women would rather not:
· foot the bill on dates,
· work dirty or hazardous jobs, work dirty and dangerous jobs,
· be drafted in the event of war,
· demonstrate to a judge that they are necessary to the well-being of their children following a divorce,
· act as an unpaid bodyguard, or
· be the first to investigate a strange noise in the house.
Thankfully, this is not the case for women. because guys tend to act in such ways. Voluntarily. on a daily basis. Due to the inherent nature of these behaviors, they don't expect to be acknowledged for them. And, surprisingly to some, men act this way because they care about women. Men are trying to win the heart of women by being nice to them.
Women are not held to the same standard of earning a man's love. Could this disparity have an effect on drive?
When it concerns to health and wellness, women also have other benefits. Worldwide, women have a longer life expectancy than men. While slightly more men are affected with prostate cancer, federal funding for breast cancer research outnumbers that for prostate cancer by roughly two to one 3.
Among the top fifteen causes of death, men have a greater mortality rate than women. This disparity is most pronounced for heart disease, suicide, and accidental injuries to the head and neck. Also, men are more likely to work in high-risk occupations. In the United States, men accounted for 92% of workplace fatalities 4. The highest number of fatalities occurred in the construction industry, where the most common causes of injury were slips and falls.
Suicidal ideation is more common among women than men, although men account for 4 out of 5 suicides in the United States as an example 5. Considering that men only constitute 49% of the national population but close to 80% of suicides, this is rather astounding.
Moreover, men predominate as both the housed and unhoused homeless population. A projected 69.6 percent of the homeless population in the United States will be men in 2020 6. In the United States, male veterans constitute a sizable subset of the homeless population.
That is to say, there are a great deal of men who just do not exist. Men are forgotten by the system when they are not participating in it. Therefore, the "patriarchy" does not value the majority of men either.
Cultures succeed when they pit men against one another in a game of respect and other incentives that are doled out very unequally. Men are praised for their accomplishments, while women are praised merely for their presence. Men are expected to show their worth by creating something that others would appreciate. For all the stress it causes males, men's innate social uneasiness really serves a positive purpose for society.
For women, the world is far less hostile and competitive. Women can walk down the street and greet strangers with a grin, knowing that she will be greeted with one in return. A woman can approach a youngster and smile without raising suspicions of pedophilia. Many individuals feel compelled to console a weeping female. There will be some willing to assist her if she experiences prejudice. If she claims she was the victim of a sexual attack, no one will doubt her story unless they see proof to the contrary. When compared to women, men simply can't say the same.
Catcalling may be an horrible act, but you know what else is at least as bad? Nobody ever asking you out on a date. To have never felt desirable, ever. Having to assume the lead sexually all the time and finding that you're usually rebuffed.
Being a woman has its privileges, and one of them is that you never have to request permission to do anything; you never have to be the lead, and so you are never accountable or responsible for whatever happens. While it's true that women are more fragile than men, any time a woman accuses a man of being sexist, he stands to lose his career and relationships with his loved ones. In the absence of evidence to the contrary, he must be presumed guilty. If he is exonerated, the woman will not be punished in any way.
Ultimately, if women truly desired equality, they would inquire about the reality of men's lives. The reason being that if men are only allowed to play certain roles, women will only be able to play certain parts as long as that continues. If women truly want parity, they would discuss shared duties in addition to shared benefits and would engage in open dialogue regarding sexual orientation and other biological disparities.
Until they do, they'll remain stuck in a rut, arguing over nothing, wondering why they don't have it all because they wrongly assume men already have it, and whining about mansplaining.
