I can’t believe we are actually descending into George Orwell’s dystopian world. Currently, Kenya is slowly sinking to what was depicted in this book, albeit written in 1949.

The current mass hysteria and menticide that is going on is mind-blowing.

I have been finding it hard to think the past one year. The main reason is because of the hate and disgust. All this hate projected towards Ruto and Kenyan government. Too much hating can twist your thinking. And that is what’s actually going on with everyone. The government wants us exactly there.

Have you noticed how recently gambling and alcohol are affecting many Kenyans? Or how football has returned to the Kenyan scene? Have you realized right now that many Kenyans are dwelling on nonsensical issues? Look around. Control nowadays isn’t enforced in chains. We chain ourselves unknowingly.

Instead of constantly seeking how we can achieve good governance, accountability, and justice, we are dwelling in hogwash. Last year, Ruto and his cronies used violence to instil fear. But after we persistently showed lack of fear, they resorted to psychological warfare. Right now, we no longer trust each other. We no longer differentiate what’s true and false. And these politicians are sedimenting this.

Imagine how Ruto constantly lies. Lie after lie. I thought he was sick or stupid. But I came to realize he knows what he is doing. He is trying to make 5+5=9. And we all know it’s 10. For those with gullible minds, constant lying might alter their reality. They will actually start seeing that 9. But for those independent thinkers who can think critically, they can see through the bullshit. The problem is the ratio of gullible masses to the independent thinkers is uneven. The easily manipulated are many. They believe anything that comes their way.

Someone I know, has been trying to tell me, Ruto has good plans for Kenya. And he was so serious. I told him Kenya will never make any progress with Ruto at the helm. It’s just that simple. The funny part is that they are the regime endorsers. The gullible ones. They believe the lies. They turn up in huge numbers to hear what their oppressors are saying, which are basically lies. Have you noticed that government grip and control have solidly established itself almost everywhere. The lack of trust and constant spread of misinformation to shape a narrative. And the huge amount of new information poured out there. Immense and vast amount of information dumped quickly.

We are left wondering which one are real and which ones are fake. The Thought Police, clearly envisioned here on Social media. Responsible for identifying and eliminating any form of subversive thinking. Have you realized that currently, thinking for yourself is a risk, and thinking differently is portrayed as betrayal?

Mass hysteria is on the rise. Menticide, which is basically the genocide of thinking, is very alive. Every friend nowadays is a potential traitor. Have you seen someone making a contrarily opinion being crucified and judged? The surveillance society is becoming too much. The government is (using NIS and other bodies) lowkey encouraging it’s citizens to monitor one another. That’s the core principle. Call out each other’s behavior every other time. Correct behaviour. All in the name of exercising collective morality. Have you noticed lately there are specific accounts on the comment section that are hell bent on twisting a narrative? They are not even interested in what is being discussed. Not interested in the main plot of the tweet. Their aim is to stir chaos. Observe all these accs “joined July 2024-March 2025”.They are just ready to point fingers. Cause distractions.

The most dangerous kind of surveillance isn’t external, it’s when it becomes internal. When every post is measured, every emotion twisted and every thought filtered. Until, many tweeps no longer can contrast what’s lies and what’s the truth. The joy of any totalitarian regime is when it’s citizens are in constant fighting. They thrive in such an environment.

Just like in Oceania, depicted by Orwell, the party didn’t censor what was said, it prevented some ideas from being formed. Words such as “Ruto Must Go” “Revolution” “youth employment “ “health services” “good education” are being suppressed by “unataka ruto aende wapi? Na ata akienda hakuna chenye itabadilika” “ata baba yako akiwa president, bado utakua vile uko” etc. The mental reflex that is currently working. Extermination of thoughts before it roots itself. Have you realized that we can no longer unite and be one now like last year? Criticism is dying before it is even conceptualized. Big voices are being suffocated by their own. The psychological warfare is currently winning. Luos this, kikuyus this, gachagua this, raila this, “si ulivote ruto”, “wewe unaishi kucomplain tu”.

People are mistaking obedience for intelligence. That’s precisely what Rutos regime wants you. I have been observing Ruto. The way he dresses with Kaunda suits. The way he lies. The way he embraces the west. But a secret admirer of the communist regimes. And this is evident by what he says and does. He says things and does the complete opposite. I have been reading and watching documentaries of. Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB propaganda merchant. He was called an agent of chaos. He took part in Soviet misinformation and propaganda in the 60s to the 80s. It worked well at that time because the internet was unavailable. And let’s be honest with ourselves, do you think Ruto cares about those people that turns up in his useless “development “ tours?

Absolutely not. He cares about those who are informed. The guys that rocked his guts last year. He knows their capability. Knowledge actually eradicates any form of fear. The more informed you are, the more dangerous you are. And that’s why, currently, it’s evident social media is in chaos, especially Twitter and TikTok. The reason being, Ruto is trying to infiltrate it.

Let’s get back at Bezmenov, he said to control the masses, you need 4 steps only.

1. Demoralization. Through propaganda and misinformation.

2. Destabilization of societies and social norms.

3. Crisis and confusion.

4. Normalization of the abnormal.

And hence, Rule over the gullible docile masses. They are achieving all these through lying and plausible deniability. What they said last year June, is not what they will say this year. This current phase is only for those who are extremely mentally well. Orwell said, the most effective form of totalitarianism isn’t the one that shouts orders but rather the one that trains and deceives minds. When an individual learns to cut off their own thoughts before they blossom, the systems no longer need to punish them. They are silently going through an internal punishment. Here, freedom becomes more than a forgotten word written in a dictionary no one remembers how to read.

Remember this movie I recommended to you? Idiocracy? Combine this with 1984. We have Kenya. In the end, many Kenyans are left to languish in double thinking. Holding contradicting beliefs and accepting both as truth. It’s when we see Ruto lying, and accept him as who he is. It’s basically accepting 5+5=9. Gradually. In the end, the system wins. The mind fails to distinguish reality and fantasy, falsehood freedom from oppression. Sanity is slowly corroded. Menticide in full effect. And when there is no longer any awareness to resist the lies and misinformation, you give in. Gullible masses. You actually know you are being deceived but you must obey as if you aren’t being deceived. Get the context? That shit destroys any spirit of resistance left in you.

Its like being in a toxic relationship. Constant lying and manipulation eventually alter your reality. The greatest danger isn’t being fooled, it’s....actually losing the will to know the truth. To seek the truth. You realize we know what this government is doing is wrong, but we tend to believe the opposite. Probably because of convenience, fear or just exhaustion. The conscious denial of reality becomes a daily habit.Curently, many people are defending courses that they don’t even understand, repeat slogans that they don’t even believe in and condemn actions they secretly believe in. Ruto must go but doesn’t believe in it. Ruto must go, but secretly benefitting from the regime. Lowkey endorsers. These are the worst kind of individuals. And all these are fastened by those who are vocal , and hence paid to shift the narrative.

This is actually a sophisticated form of slavery. It doesn’t even chain the body. It paralyzes the mind. The moment you start accepting contradiction as normal, you lose the ability to tell where control ends. Logic gives way to conformity. Mass hysteria and cult thinking. That’s how Kenya currently is being rewritten effortlessly without violence. Self subordination. Critical thoughts are clinically eliminated.

New speak sets in. You can’t rebel if you don’t know what freedom is. You can’t crave justice if the word itself has been erased from your emotional dictionary. Terms are repurposed. The lying language becomes a tool for power. To oppress. It takes a lot to see this.

When logic is twisted to the extreme, an individual loses any point of reference for reality. You can no longer differentiate reality and fiction. Psychological form of mental conditioning. Where an individual no longer trust even trust their eyes. Repeating slogans that cancel out reason. The more the confusion, the more effective it is.

A tired mind stops resisting. At this juncture, the regime doesn’t need to ban radical thoughts. It nurtures people to silence it on their own. That’s why you see rage and seething anger all over here on Twitter. Enemies of states are on the receiving end. In the end, hatred is cultivated amongst us. The emotion that could be utilized in a revolution against the regime is redirected towards specific targets. Genuine people. Shared emotions reinforce group identity. A cult brewing. And the more you hate, the less you think. Rationality gives way to impulse, and control tightens. A population in constant shared outrage doesn’t have time to reflect, and that’s exactly what Rutos regime wants. Fight each other. Call out each other.

In the end, who wins? Forcing someone to deny the obvious is making them lose their identity. So, will you be the ones who believe 5+5=10 or 5+5=9?

Orwell asked, “What will it make you stay true when everything around you demands submission?”
